Zaxcom ZRC ZaxNet Remote Control
Zaxcom ZRC ZaxNet Remote Control — The ZRC is Zaxcom’s first dedicated handheld remote controller for Digital Recording Wireless, built for production sound mixers running Zaxcom transmitters. ZaxNet remote control has previously been built into Zaxcom recorders, IFB transmitters, and QRX receivers with the QIFB option. The ZRC puts that control in a standalone handheld unit that names and groups transmitters, changes frequencies, sets power, adjusts input gain, starts and stops recording, manages timecode, and formats memory cards over ZaxNet’s 2.4 GHz network.
Card formatting can target a single transmitter’s internal memory card or an entire group at once. The ZRC generates, reads, jams, and sends SMPTE timecode wirelessly, and a 3-pin LEMO connector provides timecode input and output for syncing to or supplying other devices. It operates with or without transmitting timecode, and multiple ZRC units can work together on the same production.
ZaxNet frequency and transmission power are both adjustable to keep the link solid as RF conditions change. Smart power mode control extends transmitter battery life: LOW2 keeps compatible transmitters recording locally with wireless transmission disabled, and SLEEP shuts down all transmitter functions for maximum runtime. Display brightness, text color, auto-dim, and delay settings are adjustable. The ZRC runs on two AA batteries (alkaline, lithium, or NiMH) or external USB-C power, and the USB-C port also handles firmware updates.
