This Boom Kit is designed for productions that are concerned about getting a quality audio product using durable equipment that will fit a tight budget. The Kit includes a K-Tek Boompole, Rode Shotgun Microphone, Audio Technica Shockmount, Handgrip and Rode High Wind Protection. The K-Tek Boompole is the KE-110CC. K-Tek has become the leading supplier of professional boompoles in the US. The KE-110CC is an internally cabled lightweight aluminum boompole with an extension length of 9' 2". Connection to microphone is through a flush mounted XLR connector on the bottom of the pole. The manufacturing of this boompole is approached with the same care and precision machining as K-Tek's well-known carbon fiber poles. The microphone in this kit is the Rode NTG-2 Shotgun. This quiet microphone is in keeping with the Rode tradition of quality at an economical price. (Trew Audio's Product Specialist has compared this mic directly with other professional shotguns of 3 times the cost. There was no significant difference.) While the NTG-2 can be powered with 48V phantom power, it can also be powered with a single AA battery, which comes in very handy with DV cams that do not have phantom power available. When mounted in the included Audio Technica 8415 Shockmount, you have all the insulation you need from handling noise. A Remote Audio Handgrip with 3/8" thread is included for those times when a handheld microphone is more effective. For wind protection the Rode DeadCat is included. The synthetic fur on the DeadCat is designed to attenuate abnormal wind conditions while remaining transparent for audio recording.
