TREW AUDIO offers three Service Packages for the Nagra IV-S, IV-STC and 4.2. Designated Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, these packages are designed to give regular periodic maintenance for your Nagra at reasonable and cost effective intervals. ORIGINAL NAGRA PARTS ONLY. THIRD-PARTY MODIFICATIONS MAY BE EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY.

Level 1: Performance Inspection $100.
Recommended interval: Prior to extensive production, or whenever performance is in question.

Level 2: Complete Inspection and Service 4.2 $325; IV-S $350. Recommended interval: Yearly, more or less, depending on use, not to exceed two years.

Level 3: Major Inspection and Overhaul 4.2 $500; IV-S $550 (plus parts). Recommended interval: Three years, more or less, depending on use.

Level 1: Performance Inspection

Flat Rate $100
Recommended interval is prior to extensive production or whenever performance is in question
Flat Rate does not include the cost of parts or additional service as may be required for the repair of faults revealed by the Level 1 inspection

Exterior Mechanical Inspection

Case condition, rubber edging
Bell Crank Lever operation
Main Switch for wear and positive indexing
Front Switches for alignment and excessive play
Tension Rollers for smoothness and proper position
Transport functions for bearing smoothness

Interior Mechanical Inspection

Condition of Belts, dirt and excess grease
Other problematic Indicators
Capstan Bearing: Remove, clean, inspect and lubricate or replace.
Transport Function Check:
Start, stop, braking, fast forward, rewind and tension roller positions.

Degauss and Clean Tape Path

Record and Playback Performance Test

Frequency response, record and playback levels, distortion, for currently biased tape stock, adjusting as needed. Additional costs may be incurred if component changes are required.
Check mic pre's and battery operation.
Consult Customer For Approval of further service, repairs or parts replacement recommended as a result of inspection.

Basic Function Check

Start, Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward, Braking
Meter lamps and indicator flags

Mechanical Inspection

Heads, guides and rollers for wear
Tension roller height
Front switches for alignment & excessive wear
Rubber edge and bond condition; glue if needed
Capstan upper bearing for wear; Remove, clean and lubricate or replace if needed
Motor and capstan assembly; inspect brushes, commutator and bearing for noise
Replace brake and clutch felts (Parts $ 7.00)
Set take-up and supply roller tensions; brake and clutch tensions
Inspect & clean drive belts, replace if needed
Battery Box condition

Clean keypad and LCD window (IV-STC)

Performance Inspection

Voltage regulation, tape speed, direct chain, record and playback calibration, adjusting as needed, optimizing for currently biased tape stock
Check mic pre's and battery operation.
Additional costs may be incurred if component changes are required to optimize for requested tape
Notify customer for approval of additional repair and/or parts replacement

Level 3 Nagra Service for 4.2 & IV-S MAJOR INSPECTION & OVERHAUL SERVICE

Flat Fee Nagra 4.2 $500
Flat Fee Nagra IV-S $550
Estimated cost of replacement parts (bearings, belts, etc.) $115
Recommended interval is three years, more or less, depending on use.
Service cost is a flat rate fee for performing the above inspection items and specified parts replacement and does not include the cost of parts or additional service as may be required for the repair of faults revealed by the Level 3 inspection and overhaul service.

Perform Pre-Disassembly Inspection & Function Check

Including physical damage, meter lamps, indicator flags, switch alignment, start, stop, fast forward, rewind functions and internal indications of problems, making note of findings

Disassemble, Clean And Inspect Moving Parts

Including motor and capstan assembly, tension roller bushings, spindle bearings, bell crank lever and linkage, break and clutch tension linkage, rewind drive wheel and interior deck surface
Replace Brake and clutch felts, drive belts, capstan bearing, motor bearing and turntable bearings
Notify customer for approval of additional repair and/or parts replacement

Lubricate, Reassemble and Mechanically Align Per Factory Specifications.

Perform Complete Mechanical Function Check.

Perform Complete Electronic Alignment Per Factory Specifications.

Optimize Calibration for Currently Biased Tape Stock

Additional costs may be incurred if component changes are required to optimize for requested tape
