Drive Mounter For Portable Hard Disk Recorders

The Remote Audio Drive Mounter system is a system for adapting notebook-size hard drives to non-linear digital recorders. It is currently available for the Deva 5, Deva 4, and Deva 2 recorders.

Features
  • The Drive Mounter accommodates hard drive changes quickly and easily, and provides an efficient way to add commonly available hard drives for use with your recorder.
  • LED power and activity flicker indicators verify that your hard drive is receiving power and is functioning properly.
  • The Drive Mounter allows new, commonly available hard drives to be placed into service in your recorder in less than one minute.
  • The Drive Mounter allows you to quickly see the actual hard drive in your recorder, and allows you to visually verify which drive you are using at any time.
  • Drive Boards can be ordered with color-coded plastic ejectors (blue, red, white), to aid in identification of multiple drives.
  • Hard drives outfitted for the Drive Mounter can be stored inside an available compact, transparent, airtight, and water resistant plastic storage case.
Description

The Drive Mounter set consists of two parts, purchased separately: 1) The Recorder Adapter that stays in the recorder, and 2) The Drive Board on which to mount a standard 2.5 hard drive.

The recorder adapter snaps into position and stays inside the recorder, but is easily removable by pressing its lever (no tools required for installation or removal). The hard drive mounts onto the drive board with four 3mm screws (supplied). Once mounted on the board, the hard drive slides into the recorder, suspended on shock-isolating sprung rails. The drive board incorporates ejector levers to easily remove the hard drive from the recorder.

Only one recorder adapter is needed per recorder, regardless of how many hard drives are to be used. It is recommended that each hard drive be mounted to its own drive board to expedite swapping hard drives in the recorder. For example, if you have one recorder and five hard drives, then you would want one recorder adapter and five hard drive boards. However, since the drive is easily mounted to its hard drive board using only four 3mm Philips screws, in a pinch it would be feasible to replace the drive on a board, which can be done in less that one minute (about the same amount of time needed for a reel change on an analog Nagra).
