Remote Audio's Direct Drive
Available with Firewire or SCSI Ports!
Remote Audio's Direct Drive is a DC powered enclosure for drives such as the DVD burners used with the new non-linear recorders. Available with SCSI or Firewire data ports, the Direct Drive is ideal for Deva, HHB, Aaton, and Sound Devices recorders, as well as an on-set transfer drive with laptop computers. The Direct Drive will operate on 10VDC - 24VDC, through an industry standard 4-Pin XLR connector. ![]() The Direct Drive is power efficient, drawing less than 4 Watts in idle mode and only 7 Watts in record mode. This allows a DVD-RAM drive to be powered by an NP-1 battery for approximately 12 hours. Using a fully floating internal power supply, it can be safely powered by the same battery (or other DC source) used to power your recorder, mixer, wireless receivers, etc. The Direct Drive is very quiet, and operates without a cooling fan for those ultra quiet soundstage sets (a cooling fan can be manually switched on for working in extreme conditions). The Direct Drive enclosure protects your drive. The construction of the Direct Drive is ideal for harsh location recording environments. Using a metal inner chassis for strength and shielding, it is housed in a rugged plastic shell with rubber bumpers. There are no hard or sharp edges that can damage your other equipment during frantic setups, location changes, and wraps.
